What is therapy?
Talk therapy, also known as psychotherapy, is a process where you talk with a trained therapist like me about your thoughts, feelings, and experiences to help improve your emotional well-being. It’s a safe, confidential space where you can explore your challenges and work toward personal growth or healing.
In talk therapy, you meet with me to talk about things that are bothering you or things you want to change in your life. This could be anything from feeling stressed, anxious, or depressed, to dealing with relationship issues or past trauma. You talk openly about your feelings, thoughts, and behaviors, and I help guide the conversation.

You share as much or as little as you’re comfortable with, and there’s no rush. It’s your time, and you decide what to focus on.

A place to express yourself freely

One of my main goals of therapy is to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment where you can express yourself freely. I am there to listen without criticism and help you make sense of your feelings and experiences. I won’t tell you what to do but support you in finding your own path forward.

What you say in therapy stays private (with a few exceptions, like if there’s a risk of harm), so you can be open without worrying about what others will think.

Sometimes, we have feelings or behaviors that we don’t fully understand. In therapy, I help you explore the root causes of these feelings or patterns. For example, if you find yourself constantly feeling anxious or stuck in negative cycles, I can help you understand why these things happen and how to manage them. By reflecting on your experiences and emotions with my help, you can start to see things in new ways and gain a deeper understanding of yourself. I will be able to counsel you early on about the most reliable form of treatment, so we can decide what is the best fit for you.

Solutions focused for lifelong results

Besides just talking, therapy often involves learning practical tools and strategies to cope with difficult emotions, manage stress, and improve your overall mental health. I might teach you ways to calm your mind when you’re anxious, deal with conflict in relationships, or challenge negative thinking patterns. Over time, you’ll develop skills to handle life’s challenges in healthier ways, which can lead to more positive emotions and improved well-being.

I am academically educated, professionally trained, and licensed to help you work through your problems. I won’t just sit and listen—I’ll actively engage by asking questions, offering observations, and sometimes challenging you in gentle ways to think differently about things.

I’ll help you understand yourself better, develop healthier ways of coping, and move toward a more fulfilling, balanced life. Our sessions are a place for you to be heard, supported, and guided on your journey to feeling better.

Starting therapy is a courageous step toward better mental health, and the process is flexible to fit your needs. Whether it's online, in-person, or with a specific therapeutic approach, finding a therapist who makes you feel heard and supported is key.
