What is therapy?
From "Mental Loops" to Mental Quiet
For many neurodivergent individuals, traditional talk therapy can feel like a treadmill—you spend a lot of time explaining your thoughts, but you don't necessarily feel like you’re moving forward. In this practice, therapy is more than just "venting." It is a structured, collaborative process designed to help you process trauma and break the cycle of chronic rumination.
My approach combines the empathy of traditional therapy with the precision of evidence-based tools like EMDR and ERP. We don’t just explore your challenges; we work to update how your brain stores distressing experiences so they no longer hijack your present.
A Structured Space for a Different Kind of Brain
In our sessions, we focus on the things that are keeping you "stuck"—whether that’s a traumatic event that plays on a loop, intrusive thoughts that won't quit, or the exhaustion of navigating a world not built for your wiring.
Unlike open-ended therapy that can feel aimless, our work is intentional:

-
You are the expert on your experience: You share as much or as little as you’re comfortable with. There is no "social performance" required here.
-
We look under the hood: If you find yourself stuck in negative cycles, we don’t just analyze "why"—we look at the underlying nervous system response and use targeted protocols to shift it.
-
Safety without judgment: This is a private, neuro-affirming space where stimming, fidgeting, and direct communication are not just "allowed," but welcomed.
Tools for Lasting Resolution
Beyond providing a space to be heard, I am an active partner in your healing. Because I am trained in specialized modalities like EMDR and ERP, I won’t just sit and listen. I will provide you with a concrete roadmap to:
-
Regulate your nervous system: Learning practical, "bottom-up" tools to calm your mind when it feels overstimulated or anxious.
-
Process the "Sticky" Memories: Using EMDR to take the painful "charge" out of past trauma so it stays in the past.
-
Interrupt the Rumination: Using adapted ERP strategies to help you regain control over your focus and energy.

A Collaborative Path Forward
I am academically educated and professionally licensed to help you work through complex problems, but I approach our work as a peer in your journey. I will offer observations, ask clarifying questions, and sometimes gently challenge "looping" patterns to help you see new possibilities.
Starting therapy is a courageous step toward reclaiming your mental bandwidth. Whether we meet online or in person, my goal is to ensure you feel supported, heard, and—most importantly—equipped with the tools to live a more balanced, fulfilling life.
